Week of June 18

Everything is going well, this week was a pretty decent week as far as everything goes. On Monday we played some soccer and had a good time with some of the Elders from our zone. Then we had a sweet family home evening with a less active named Deisy and her husband Carlos. and they totally gave us dinner after. good stuff.

Tuesday, I taught my second district meeting, and once again, one of the Assistants to the President was there. Makes me wonder what is up :/ Then we got back and worked throughout the afternoon and night and all that. We got a good amount of lessons in as well.

Then on Wednesday, we had a special training with the mission president and his wife. It talked a lot about the goals of the area and how we can support them as a mission, and it also talked a lot about working with the ward in ward councils and all that good stuff. Then in the afternoon we went and visited a part member family that we are visiting, Her name is Cynthia and she has been a member for most of her life, and she is living with a man named Alfredo, and he hadn't really had interest before in the church, but last week he went, and now he wants to get married, and baptized and be an example for his family and all that stuff, and so we are planning the wedding for the 4th of July, which would totally be sweet if everything works out well.

Thursday was a normal day, so was Friday. Saturday was pretty normal as well. Then on Sunday I gave a talk in sacrament meeting which talked about missionary work. go figure. Then as I said before, we are having a second sacrament metting out in an area called Isla Valle. I also spoke there, and it was a cool meeting. Next week we are going to start teaching primary and Sunday school, and me and my comp have to teach those classes as well, it will be fun I'm sure. I will send you guys more picture this week. That is basically all that happened. Things are going very well in this area. Being district leader isn't anything hard but it is just more responsibility that I don't really want, but I'll take it. Any other questions and I will take them.

Anyway, have a good week.

Howdy

Alright alright I will tell you a bit more about some things that are going on. Just relax a little. So my comp is Elder Dayley, he is from Idaho, and his is 6 foot 4, so he is pretty tall. Blond hair grayish eyes. and he is super funny. The area here is doing really well.

On Tuesday I gave my first district meeting lesson, which went really well. One of the assistants to the President was there, which was cool. I'm pretty sure he went there to see if I was really ready to be a District leader, but I can't really say.

On Wednesday, we repaired a roof for a member family which was sweet, I will try to send photos.

This Saturday we had a baptismal service, and President Madariaga and his wife came to the service, which went really really well. He shared some thought and stuff. I will send you guys some pics if I can.

After the baptism, we went and showed President our area, and where we are having the meetings for the parts that are far away, and we also looked for a different house with him as well, because we live well out of our area. I'm thinking that he will be splitting the area coming up pretty soon because our area is really big, and it's hard to work it all effectively, but we will see what happens.

And mom you spelt dam wrong...good work.

But yeah, everything so far in this area is going really well. Today we are going to go play some soccer and get some stress out and have some fun. Any questions just let me know.

Week of crazyness

Alright so this week was a bit crazy.

So monday sucked after getting all that news, but I just put it aside. Monday night we went around, Elder Muñoz and I and started saying goodbye and taking pictures because I was almost guaranteed to get out of the area cause I was there for six months. Then Monday night I got the news on my transfer, which I will tell you in a bit. Tuesday we went around and said goodbye to everybody that I could, and a ton of people gave me food. It was awesome. Nobody cried so that was good. I will definitely miss that area but at the same time I needed to get out. 6 months is a long time.

Wednesday morning I woke up early at 4, finished all my packing and went with my comp and the Bishop to the mission office to meet my new comp. So, my new companion is Elder Dayley, from Caldwell Idaho. He has about 9 months in the mission, so he is new, but not so much. We are in the area of Areguá A, and i have been called to serve as a (drum roll)............................. District Leader! Which is cool. So now I have the opportunity to serve other missionaries and lead them to success. And now I also have a ton of responsibilities, like doing weekly reports and boring stuff like that. Fun stuff. The area here is waaaaaayyyyy big and we are working in 2 areas. One area is about 30 minutes from the Capilla and we are trying to build a branch out there. We are having 2 different sacrament meetings to facilitate that for now, so we will se how it develops. We should also have 3 baptisms this week, so we will see how that goes.

So yeah crazy week. I will send photos.

Week of May 27

I will let Mom suffer a little bit, haha. I don't know, there is not a ton of thing to commente but I will try to include more.

Just so you know, last week I bought a pair of CATs because I broke one of the pairs of shoes that I had. So I definitely should not need more shoes for the rest of my mission seeing as how only a year y pico remain. They were about $150, if I changed the money right in my head, so check my account to see if all is well. But I am also going to buy my comp a pair as well, since he doesn't really have any good shoes. The shoes that he has are already breaking, so I figured I would be nice and buy him some, so monitor later today or tomorrow to verify.

This week was pretty decent, but it rained a lot which kills the work. Which is something I don't understand. It rains here a lot, and the people know that, but somehow they never seem prepared, and are always super surprised and sometimes upset when it rains. Kind of funny.

We found a menos activo family who is also a part member family, and the dad who is not a member is interested in listening to us now, which is sweet. We also found a family that moved into a nearby neighborhood about 2 weeks ago, and they seem really sweet, They have a dog that is a German shepherd, mixed with some kind of other shepherd or collie, and it's a super sweet dog. It's pure white and super playful. Definitely a mix I want when it's time for a new dog.

Also, I need you dad to send me a new aceitero, or oil container for consecrated oil, as mine broke this week after giving a blessing. I have a cheap plastic one but it's lame and I need a sweeter one. The one I had you could see how much oil there is and I would like one similar to that as well. Thanks.

So I'm doing good, the weather is continually getting cooler. Yes I'm teaching, and as I said in the other email, I said we found some sweet people. But we also visit a lot of less active members and other investigators that we find or are references. I will be in the same area until next week for sure, but on the 6th of june are the transfers, and it is very likely that I will get changed out because I have been here for almost 6 months. Elder Muñoz is doing good as well. I'm going to buy him some better shoes today as I wrote in the other note as well.

Things in the ward keep getting more and more interesting. As I said last week, there was a fight in the ward, and there was again yesterday, but this time the bishop´s wife fainted. I didn't see it, but I'm sure it was interesting. The things here are just funny.

But yeah, if you have any questions just shoot them my way and if I have time I will answer them.

Week of April 16

No I have not found out anything yet about calling you guys, and I probably won't until May 7 (my bday!) Just relax. We will talk when we talk. Being temple workers sounds really sweet. Now dad´s hair is going to turn completely white, and yours [Mom's] will start to gray, just wait and see. Thanks for your thought.

This week was decent. Monday, we went in to Asunción to get some things for my comp. And while we were in the mission office, I got the two ackages of protein, and the shoes. The shoes are a bit big, but there is a guy I'm teaching that works with shoes and he is putting padding in them to make the smaller and fit better. And then we sat on a bus for 2 during rush hour to get back to our area. Lame. My comp says thanks for the Jelly beans.

Tuesday was pretty normal, and nothing really happened.

Wednesday was awesome. We were able to do some service for a family that we are teaching, the same guy that works with the shoes, and it was super fun. We cut down like 6 different trees and cleaned the yard and stuff like that. It was fun and we were there most of the day. Im disappointed though cause I forgot to take my camera. Lame. Was fun though.

Thursday and Friday it rained all day and we only taught a couple of people.

Saturday was better and we found a couple of new people to teach and we caught up for time lost with lessons and stuff like that.

And Sunday we had a really good sacrament meeting and priesthood meeting, with some good messages that talked about repentance and sacrifice.

Okay, homework. I want you guys to send some shirts for my companion. He is from Ecuador and had to sacrifice a lot to be able to come out here and he was not able to get all the stuff he needed. His neck is 14 and a half, chest is 34-36. And if you can, a broaderweave material that breathes, 3 shirts should be a good amount. His name is Elder Muñoz.

Other homework, I want you guys to send me the lists of Scripture Mastery for the standard works if you can, just a list of the scritures, so Dad, or Tori or Manda if you want, hook me up.

Today we find out changes, but I'm staying for sure cause im training my companion, but yeah. Have fun, behave, and may God bless you.

Week of April 8th

SO this week was pretty good. Last monday, after playing soccer for a couple of hours we did some shopping and cleaned the house a bit. We then proceeded to make a pull up bar succesfully. I will send a pic.

Tuesday was boring, and nothing really happened. We worked and I made some more chili for lunch.

Wednesday was a pretty good day. I said last week that my comp and I are starting to work in a different part of our area, and Wednesday we went over there again. We found two families that are cool and should be able to progress. One of the families readily accepted the Book of Mormon and are excited to read it. Then we went to ward night and we sat and talked with a drunk guy for 2 hours. Fun stuff.

Thursday. Again was pretty normal. We had an amazing lunch appointment Thursday. Then we proceeded to work, but not much happened. We found a couple of new people to teach but none of them are really amazing.

Friday, we did our weekly planning, and then worked. Something cool happened. We went to go visit a family, but they weren't there, so we started walking away some guy came up to us and asked who we were. We said that we were missionaries, and he the asked if we were American and knew English. I replied yes and we started talking in English. Apparently, he is an evangelist missionary from New Mexico. So we ended up Bible bashing for a bit, but we started walking with him and talked tranquilamente (calmly). It was really weird, he wanted a Book of Mormon, but we had already given all of the ones we had away. Hopefully we will find him again. It was really weird.

Saturday, we were in the newer part again and found some more families to teach. Cool stuff.

Yesterday, nothing really happened, we went to church and studied and worked a bit.

This week I was studying a lot about the importance that my mission has in my life and everything that goes with it, and it was good stuff, and I now find myself more animated to work hard and be an example for other missionaries.

No I have not gotten the packages yet, but they should get here soon.

Congrats on the calling as temple workers, hopefully you will have fun with that.

Tambien congrats to Amanda and Nate, hopefully everything goes well with the sealing.
